    Looks and specs identical to the Laguna of the same size. Why should I buy Axiom besides the fact that I live within 20 minutes of the Hickory Klingspor? Honest question, is there actually a difference? Are they both made with "global components" from China?

    • @ChristcrossCrafts
      @ChristcrossCrafts 5 месяцев назад

      They look similar, but are different. If you are comparing the IQ Pro (the new one), it would compare more to the Elite series. If the previous version of the IQ, then it would be the Axiom Pro series. Axiom would have some advantages and disadvantages depending on what you are looking for. Axiom is manufactured in Taiwan but does go through considerable quality control. I can't say where Laguna is made. The controller on the Axiom is much more robust and their stepper motors are 48 watt (Pro) or actual Servo motors with the Elite. There rpm range is 0-24,000 which is helpful in certain applications. The negative is Axiom currently doesn't have a vac table or ATC, but that is changing very soon from what I understand. The biggest advantage after the sale is the technical assistance from Axiom. They are far superior and are quick to respond with accurate fixes. I'd suggest going to the Hickory store and looking at the Pro on the floor before making up your mind. just my opinion. Check out my channel and you will see I owned a Next Wave HD520, then an Axiom Pro, and finally upgraded to an Elite. Laguna and others were on my radar, but I am so happy that I went Axiom when upgrading from my Shark HD.

      @@KlingsporsWoodworkingShop Sure you can find places that sell them like Amazon but the truth is hummingbirds do not nest in houses. But they do make a very nice decoration. Great video to mounting it, poor design when it comes to the power cable for the Ecool and the spindle, since they are both to short to route thru the drag change, so now they want me to jeri rig a way to route the cables. They could resolve this by providing an extension for the two cables and in the future make sure these cords are long enough

      Depends on the tip, wood, burner style and what you are trying to do. No one set temperature is going to work for everything. Set to 350, and try it if it's burning to hot to fast or too dark, then back it down until you find where you are happy with the results.

    Michele, how can I burn the condensation that we see as we breath or speak in cold air? Any help you could offer with this would be greatly appreciated! Also, I’d like to compliment you on your videos - they’re so informative and full of excellent, useful and practical tips! Thank you!

    • @KlingsporsWoodworkingShop
      @KlingsporsWoodworkingShop 7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your kind compliment, Elaine. In order for the breath condensation to be seen, you’ll need to have a background burned behind where the breath will be rendered so that the lighter breath will show up. I would render breath condensation in one of these two ways: Option 1. I would burn the background where the breath will go first. Then I would use sandpaper (around 220/320 grit) to remove the burn in varying degrees of light and dark, working in small circles. You’ll need to make some of the “mist” lighter and darker to make it believable. Attached is a reference picture to show you an example. Note that the breath is very light when it comes out of her mouth. If it’s too strong, it will look like she is exhaling cigarette smoke. Option 2. I would burn the background only around the area where the mist will go. Then I would use my shader in a small circular motion to blend the background into the mist. You’ll need to shade in light and darker tones in the mist to mimic the breath in the photo. Please let me know if you need more clarification. Thanks, Michele

    We have a few hundred linear feet of custom milled door and window casing that has quite a bit of chatter marks. It's 2.75" wide and hard Maple. I am thinking maybe a mop on a bench grinder. Any suggestions/advice on grits or a possibly better set up. I'm a DIY homeowner, not a shop, so trying to do a decent job without excessive costs, if possible. Thanks.

    • @KlingsporsWoodworkingShop
      @KlingsporsWoodworkingShop 7 месяцев назад

      The Mac Mop, 10x4, would be the best option, especially if mounted to a bench grinder. You will have to have a long enough motor shaft to accommodate the 4" thickness of the Mac Mop. Mac Mops sand is finer than the grit they have on them. For example, 80 grit will sand more like 120 grit. If you need one grit to rule them all, 100 or 120 would be our recommendation.
